Good Music Mothers Day Concert

As part of the Mother’s Day Good Music Festival, SJ Presents an electrifying, all-star concert with New York’s hip-hop cultural icons representing the diverse flavors of New York – See JA RULE, ASHANTI, FAT JOE, REMY MA, and LIL’ MO as they come to Hulu Theater at MSG on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at 8 p.m. It’s time to get out and to some of the best.
See hitmakers: Ja Rule (“Always on Time”), Ashanti (“Foolish”), Joe (“Lean Back”), Remy Ma (“Ante Up”), Lil’ Mo (“Superwoman”).

Four-time GRAMMY Award-nominated rapper and singer-songwriter Ja Rule has released six Top 10 albums, including Rule 3:36 and Pain Is Love. With those LPs and others, he’s earned a series of hit singles that made the Top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, including “Between Me and You” (with Christina Milian), “Ain’t It Funny” (with Jennifer Lopez), and three on which he collaborated with Ashanti: “Mesmerize,” “Wonderful,” and the GRAMMY-nominated No. 1 hit, “Always on Time.”

Singer-songwriter Ashanti, often referred to as the “Princess of Hip-Hop and R&B,” is known for vocals as sultry as they are sweet. Her debut album, Ashanti, won a 2003 GRAMMY for Best Contemporary R&B Album and spawned the smash hit single, “Foolish.” Since then, Ashanti has sold over 15 million records worldwide and produced more Billboard Hot 100 hits like “Rock Wit U” and “Rain on Me.” On her most recent LP, Braveheart, she continues her R&B journey, this time integrating touches of electro, trap, and urban pop.

Longtime friends and collaborators since the 90s, Fat Joe and Remy Ma will perform their solo hits and collaborations, including the GRAMMY-nominated “All The Way Up” single (Best Rap Performance and Best Song) and Joe’s #1 hit, “Lean Back.”

2022 Oscars Coverage

Well lets just start out with it was a very eventful night! The internet is buzzing about the slap seen around the world. But how about we take a minute to talk about the monumental wins. Will Smith took home his first Academy Award in his career. He won for his work on the critically acclaimed King Richard. Do you know how crazy that is? A career of groundbreaking movies, and he finally got his flowers. Billie Eilish took home the trophy for Best Original Song, for her song “No Time To Die” from the 007 movie of the same name. Ariana DeBose took home the win for Best Supporting Actress, for her work on West Side Story. She is now the first openly queer woman to win an acting Oscar. Questlove took home the win for his work on “Summer of Soul” in the Best Documentary category.

When it comes to performances, I will say that I loved Beyonce’s “Be Alive” and Billie Eilish’s “No Time To Die“. Awkwardly, there was a performance of “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” that featured Megan The Stallion, Becky G and Luis Fonsi. I was left staring at the screen like “…why?!?”. Check them out below.

The 5 track project which features the single ‘God Theory’ is sure to be in heavy rotation with production by Khalid Singletary, Daren Joseph and Donnie Cutz. How many of you might remember the Trinidad & Tobago native whose rise to fame started some years back on the iconic Showtime At The Apollo where he would go on to win 3 times before taking the world by storm. He’s accomplished so much in the past 15 years which only proves that if an artist truly puts their all in into their craft, their gift will continue to make room for them.  Messiah has graced the stage all over the country performing at sold out shows on tour alongside  with Kelly Price , while opening concerts for stars including Wale, Lupe Fiasco, Trey Songz & Chris Brown. Now one would think that with all this success he would just stick to only performing for the masses but the MC’s other passion is mentorship. Over the years Messiah has worked with many ordinations and institutions to help change the lives of incarcerated youth. As a mentor he continues to instill values and brings hope to countless men and women who are looking towards a brighter future. Gracing the stage alongside legends like Patti Labelle or performing for President Obama and Stevie Wonder and clearly some of his finest moments as an artist, but in his eyes inspiring others to be greater than their current circumstances is just as rewarding. This man of many words is known as a scholar, mentor, activist, entrepreneur, poet and rapper but when that is all said and done he forever be known as an inspiration to the world.  Check out Messiah Ramkissoon’s latest project ‘The Eye Of Freedom Vol.2 ‘,  which is just a taste of what’s to come from this rising star.
