K Lenai has arrived with ‘I-95’

Published

on

Sultry Singer/Songwriter K Lenai is back & before than ever with the release of her long awaited single  ‘I-95’. The Long Island, NY native was practically born into musical family that has clearly made on mark on her life at such a young age.  Growing up singing in her Grandfathers church choir At Refuge Apostolic Church Of Christ was just the begging of her journey with music but after her family moved to VA during junior high, her love for singing and performing would really come alive. It was in Virginia as a kid where she would perform at numerous talent shows and beauty pageants, where she would wow the crowds with her gift which ultimately led to her winning every time. At the time Aaliyah, Mya, Destiny’s Child, Fantasia and Ashanti were some of her biggest influences and as well all know those superstars got their start at a young age as well. This was a clear sign for many things to come as she continued to perform now in a group with her cousins as they watched acts like B2K take over the entertainment industry.

As time would progress Miss K would continue to perform at various talent shows while in college, but it was her actual cousin Brittany who truly inspired her to take her dreams to the next level as she watched her on stage performing behind rap superstar J.Cole. Within time she finally got the courage to work on her stage performance by performing at Open Mics at Sunday Soul Food Service. This is where KLenai truly became alive as a performer and was introduced to her vocal coach / producer Nickey McMullen. The two would continuously work on her craft as they eventually teamed up with producer Deuce to work on K’s debut single ‘Tease‘ . The sultry track was just the right record to introduce her to the world, but as it continued to garner buzz for the rising star she decided to get back in the studio with her team to create another banger. Now she’s back with even more heat with the release of her latest single ‘I-95‘. After listening to this record, it was clear she truly put her all into this personal record which was based on one of those crazy nights after an incident with her significant other. Get into the track which is sure to be in heavy rotation as she gears up to release her highly anticipated debut EP later this year.

“Super Freaky Girl” gets moved to the Pop Categories at the Grammys… And Nicki “isn’t mad”

According to TheHollywoodReporter,

Minaj originally submitted the track — which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart in August — to the rap categories at the Grammys, but the decision was overturned by the Recording Academy’s rap committee, according to a source. That group determined that Minaj’s playful and pop-sounding song sampling Rick James’ 1981 classic “Super Freak” should compete for best pop solo performance instead of rap awards.

TheHollywoodreporter

In my honest opinion, this was the right move! The song was produced by a Pop producer and it was also promoted as a Pop song. This isn’t an attack on Nicki Minaj, as it has happened across all genres. Some of the more notable people to have this happen would be Kacey Musgraves, The Weeknd, Iggy Azalea, Lil Nas X and so many more.

However, Nicki took to twitter to share her thoughts, per usual:

At this time, Big Energy by Latto, hasn’t been announced which category it will be in. It will likely be in the running for the same Pop awards, based on the fact that Dr. Luke also produced it and the Remix featured Mariah Carey’s rendition of Fantasy, which was also nominated in the Pop category.

Aaron Fresh Premieres ‘ Tabanca ‘

Published

R&B showstopper Aaron Fresh has come a long way from when he was first introduced to the word back in 2010. The former Teen heartthrob made a huge splash with his Def Jam debut singles ‘Spending All My Time’ & ‘Dirty Girl’ which was in heavy rotation across BET, MTV, VH1 & Nickelodeon.  The Trini native was truly born to do this and as a kid watching some of his idols like Michael Jackson, Usher , Chris Brown & Machel Montano was all the inspiration he ever truly needed. When Aaron hit the stage his electrifying performances compared him to the greats the came before him which is exactly why Nick Cannon and so many others saw the star power in him. In no time he was co-hosting ‘The Night Life’ alongside Nick on Nickelodeon where the also gave him the opportunity to become a special celebrity correspondent on Teen Nick. It was clear that his star was steady on the rise, but as label politics changed his time at Def Jam was over, but that only fueled him to continue his success as an indie artist. Over the years he’s also found success as a songwriter working with K-Pop stars EXO and NU’EST which kept him fulfilled, but his fans were ready for him to return to music. Now he’s back and better than ever with the release of his latest single ‘Tabanca’ as he teamed up with Ronnie Young Jr and Micky Monday on the track. The buzz worthy single is just the re-introduction he needed to show the world his new and refreshing sound. Watch the accompanying video for the track which is only just a taste of so much more in store.
