Album Review: Trina – The One

Published

on

The Diamond Princess is back with her first album in almost a decade.

One would think that after being gone for so long, Trina would have lived enough life to have new topics to talk about, but…she doesn’t. Surprisingly, I don’t even care. I can honestly say that the album is full of bops, and she kept true to her self.

From lyrics to production, this is what we love Trina for and it shows that Trina hasn’t missed a step. In a previous post, i expressed my doubts on how this album would turn out after hearing that god awful, “BAPS”, but i can truly say that is probably one of the worst songs on the album.

Stand out tracks are:

  • New Thang (feat 2 Chainz)
  • Situation (feat Lil Wayne)
  • Ride Clean (feat Plies and Boosie Badazz)
  • Fuck Boy (feat Molly Brazy and Tokyo Jetz)

One of the major downfalls I noticed on the album was the mixing of the new version of Fuck Boy. One of the female rappers seemed to be too loud on the beat, while the other sounds like she is drowning under the beat.

Major props to Trina for this album. Not to mention a lot of these promo interviews she’s been giving are refreshing.

Purchase the album here.
